An unstable man who killed six students researched online how to silently kill people before beginning his rampage, a new report has revealed.

Elliot Rodger, 22, stabbed his fellow students, one of them 94 times in May last year at the University of California, where he was himself a student.

Before the killing rampage, he posted a video online reeling out his planned killings which he was soon to carry out.

But more details have now surfaced after the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Officer released the 64-page report detailing its full investigation.

In the report, details on how Rodger searched online for 'quiet silent kill with a knife' before his first three killings of James Hong, Weihan 'David' Wang and George Chen.

After he had murdered his first 3 victims, he went on to murder 3 more, who were all University of California students ,before finally killing himself.

In his report, Sheriff Bill Brown wrote: “[Mr Rodger] apparently suffered from significant mental illness that ultimately resulted in homicidal and suicidal rage.

“I sincerely hope that their findings will go a long way towards helping to avoid future tragedies."

The report also clearly laid out how Rodger started purchasing his guns used in the killings in December 2012.

Investigators also mentioned how he often visited the university library to read about serial killers.

His search history on the internet also indicates that he had a strong interest in Adolph Hitler and the Nazis.

Questions now is why the police did not suspect Rodger was capable of the killings after previously investigating him after his mother voiced her concern to the cops.

The report adds: “There was nothing evident during the contact with [Rodger] that gave the deputies reason to believe he was a danger to himself or others.

"Such risk factors are necessary in order to place someone on an involuntary mental health hold, or to legally search their residence.”

Police discovered 3 semi-automatic handguns in his car after he died, alongside 550 unspent rounds.
