The woman Natasha Rose Chenier was 19 when she first reunited with her father, having sought him out after her relationship with her mother went sour.
The 24-year-old lady, from Vancouver, grew up not knowing her father, but over 2 years she flew out to meet him where he lived, in Jamaica, after speaking on the phone.
Writing for Jezebel, she describes how they had much in common, and "connected immediately".
She stated that: "I was intoxicated by our likeness, which I never shared with my mother, or with any of my siblings.
"All of a sudden I had company. It was as simple. I had a my dream parent, and I was over the moon."
Her dad started wowing her with expensive meals, and she became aware that she found herself attracted to him.
On her 2nd trip to visit her father Natasha, who works as a literary scholar, started sleeping in her dad's bed and was baffled to realize she felt a sexual attraction to him, but instead of going away those feelings grew.
And it was during her final visit to Jamaica that Natasha discovered that her father was also attracted to her and the duo began a physical relationship.
Natasha's father revealed to her, he too had been attracted to her since they first met.
"I imagine that, unless you have experienced genetic sexual attraction yourself, this is going to sound entirely unbelievable," she said.
"But trust me: it was as real and intense as anything. The sexual feelings I developed for my father felt like a dark spell that had been cast over me - a heading that a therapist told me had been used almost verbatim by another client who had experienced father-daughter genetic sexual attraction.
"In general, my guiding principle in life is being in control. But in that moment I had absolutely none. It was like those nightmares in which you scream and no one hears you: you are powerless and you know it."
Natasha stated that she felt physically sick as a result of the relationship, and as though she was in a "whirlwind of self-hate", but her father always say to her "you'll be fine".
She added: "I was on an island very far from home, and had no one to turn to, nowhere to escape."
"I didn't want to fly home early because I believe my mother would have questions, so I stayed in Jamaica for the remaining few days of my scheduled visit, the darkest of my life."
Eventually she broke off contact with her Dad and has not seen him since, and currently receiving therapy which has helped her deal with the traumatic experience.
She said: "I have finally been able to understand myself: that my attraction, and what it led to, was not my fault."
